Energy Healing for Anxiety: When You Feel Overwhelmed, Stuck, or Not Like Yourself
If you’ve been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns you can’t seem to shift, you’re not alone and you’re not doing anything wrong.
Many of the women I work with reach a point where they have tried to think their way through what they’re feeling, but nothing seems to create lasting change, and they’re left wondering why it still feels so hard.
In this post, I want to help you understand what may be happening in your body and nervous system, and how energy healing, alongside somatic support, can begin to gently shift what feels stuck.
Why understanding your anxiety isn’t always enough
I used to think that if I could just understand what I was feeling and why, I would be able to change it.
I spent a lot of energy trying to make sense of my emotional patterns, trying to find the right insight or the right explanation that would finally allow me to move forward.
But what I began to notice, both in my own experience and in the women I work with, is that understanding alone doesn’t always create change, especially when the nervous system has been holding stress, pressure, or unresolved emotion for a long time.
How the body holds anxiety and overwhelm
This is where somatic healing becomes important, because it brings attention back to the body rather than staying only in the mind. You can read more about this approach in my article on What is Somatic Healing.
When the body has been carrying anxiety or overwhelm, it often develops patterns of tension, contraction, or bracing that continue even when we consciously want to feel different.
This can show up as feeling on edge, emotionally reactive, shut down, or unable to access a sense of ease, even when nothing is obviously wrong.
What I’ve learned, especially in recent years, is that being present with what is happening in the body begins to create a different kind of space.
Instead of trying to fix or override the experience, we begin to notice it, stay with it, and allow the nervous system to gradually reorganize.
The grief we don’t always name
Sometimes this includes meeting emotions that have been there for a long time, including grief that does not have a clear endpoint or resolution.
There is a kind of grief that comes not only from what has happened, but from what will not happen, the paths not taken, the expectations that quietly fall away. This is called non-finite grief.
In somatic work, we don’t rush to resolve this or turn it into something positive. We stay with it in a way that allows the body to process what it has been holding, at a pace that feels safe.
One of the questions that has supported me in this process, and that I sometimes explore with clients, is this: is there any part of you that feels relief in what did not happen?
This question often opens up something unexpected. Alongside the grief, there can be a sense of spaciousness, a release of pressure, or a quiet recognition that not everything we thought we wanted was actually aligned with who we are now.
This is not about forcing a positive perspective, but about allowing a more complete experience and perspective to emerge.
How energy healing supports nervous system regulation
Energy healing can support this process by working with the subtle patterns of stress and holding in the system that are not always accessible through conscious awareness. If you want a clearer sense of how I work, you can explore my Energy Healing Sessions.
Rather than trying to analyze or solve the problem, energy healing allows the body to shift out of patterns of contraction and into a state where regulation and ease become more available.
When combined with somatic awareness, this creates a grounded and embodied way of working with anxiety and overwhelm that does not rely on pushing through or forcing change. I also go into more detail in my post on What is Energy Healing.

Summary
Anxiety and overwhelm are not signs that something is wrong with you, but often signals that your body has been holding more than it was meant to hold for too long. When you begin to include the body in the process, through somatic awareness and energy healing, it becomes possible to shift these patterns in a way that feels more sustainable and more aligned with who you are.
